DDFD (DivorcedDadFrugalDad)

I am very excited about this site. You might think that is because I am a founder and contributor– Yes, that’s true.  However, what really excites me about this site is that there isn’t one like it anywhere on the Internet.  Believe me, I have looked for one– it didn’t exist.  I could find bits and pieces, here and there, but there was no one-stop resource.  The Self-Reliance-Exchange.com changes that, and that excites me.

If you have read any of my sites, you know a few things about me already:

  • I am not afraid to express an opinion,
  • I try hard to get right to the point,
  • I believe in independent thinking, and
  • I don’t like to be helpless in any aspect of my life

If you aren’t familiar with my work you probably want to start with my first internet blog site, DivorcedDadFrugalDad.com.  That site is my general lifestyle site that is designed to share my ideas, opinions, and approaches to quality living on a frugal budget.  You will quickly realize I don’t believe in deprivation, but rather in smart purchase decisions and waste avoidance.  That site looks at topics that include frugal living, personal development and productivity, simple living, personal finance, and much more.

Next, you will probably want to look at my recipe and cooking site, DaddyCooksQuick.com.  That site is spinoff of DivorcedDadFrugalDad.com that shares one of my passions– quality, homecooking that is quick and easy.  I do quite a bit of homemade cooking and I love to BBQ.

You should also checkout my entrepreneurial site, Defensive-Entrepreneurship.com. That site is dedicated to helping people become defensive entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs who start and operate businesses to protect themselves from the pitfalls of single income sources. The site looks at all aspects of starting and running a business including sales, marketing, finance, operations, human capital, and business structures.  While I have always had a corporate job, I have started and run multiple side businesses– I am a true defensive entrepreneur.

On a more personal level, I am a remarried, divorced father of two, and step father of two living in New England. While I am highly educated (an honors graduate with two advanced degrees in business), I have a disdain for those who try to impress me and others with their degrees (An MBA Degree Ain’t All It’s Cracked Up to Be . . .), I have much more respect for good old-fashioned common sense.

I grew up in the suburbs, lived in New York City, moved back to the suburbs, and have finally settled in the country amongst the woods, working farms, and horse farms–  I have never been happier.

My interests are broad, but here are a few:

  • My wife and kids
  • Fishing, hiking, tennis, and other outdoor activities
  • Homemade cooking and BBQ
  • Reading and personal learning and development
  • DIY projects and vegetable gardening
  • Entrepreneurship and investments
  • Watching movies

I am sometimes asked about my desire for anonymity. I am a bit of a privacy nut– I don’t believe my life and my on-line activities are any business of my ex-wife, extended family and friends, and my employer.  I like to think of myself as having something in common with Samuel Langhorne Clemens . . . I mean Mark Twain.

I hope this bio gives you an idea of who I am and what I am about– Welcome to our site.
