About

As the name would suggest, this site is about self reliance. More importantly, it’s a place for exchange of information between and among individual who believe that a self directed life is wise and worthy of embracing. Self reliance is a broad theme, and there are many categories of information that you’ll find here. All are related to living a more deliberate and self-directed life of your own choosing.

This site was created to provide quality material, well organized and presented, to address in a comprehensive manner the broad needs of individuals who have chosen to live a lifestyle characterized by self reliance instead of being increasingly dependent on others.

We intend to create the ultimate resource for ideas, skills, knowledge, advice, stories, tips, how to instructions, recommendations and discussions about self reliant living. If you’re interested in the self reliance lifestyle . . . this is the place for you.

For the experienced individual, we provide new ideas to consider as well as new perspectives on the “tried and true” that we’re all familiar with. Even the more experienced reader will benefit from the discussions and forum-like atmosphere that our diverse team creates. We invite those with depth and breadth of experience to make suggestions and join in the conversation about becoming more self sufficient.

For the novice, we seek to introduce foundational concepts, new ideas, enhanced skills, and tools to help you develop your own sense of self reliance.

For beginners as well as seasoned readers, we offer a wealth of insights, tips, tricks and techniques. We also provide a range of perspectives on core concepts and try to expose myths and misunderstandings about those of us who embrace the culture of self reliance.

We don’t expect every reader of the Self Reliance Exchange to explore each of the topics in-depth. There are just too many to master. We do expect that those who come to visit on particular topics will see other categories of interest and perhaps pickup another “tool” or two for their own self reliance toolbox.

Enjoy the ride with the rest of us who continue to learn the value of more self sufficiency, and less dependence on others…
