Goal Setting – You Need Something to Aim For

Goal Setting

"If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time." — Zig Ziglar

Are you familiar with goal setting?  Wherever you are right now—stop what you are doing and take a look around.  Almost everything you see, needed a plan.  Whether it is a building, furniture, your car, or the street grid in your town, it all needed a plan to follow in order to exist.

Goal setting is something you can use to stay motivated.  It allows you to see where you need to go as well as where you have been.  This gives you a tremendous advantage over those who do not set goals.

There is more to setting goals than just having an idea.  The key is to have written goals on paper—a checklist.

Brian Tracy reminds us that a goal that is not written down is only a wish because it has no energy behind it.  In your head, it is only a wish, but on paper it is like a contract with yourself.  Someone would not build a house without a plan or goals to follow.  Likewise, people who have a written budget are able to accomplish more financially.

You can set goals for each hour, day, week, month, as well as each year.  Setting short-term goals, as well as long-term goals can help prepare you to meet your goals effectively.

Setting goals can help you save:

  • time
  • money
  • energy

Everyone has goals.  Why not create a checklist to help you stay on track with those goals.  The saying, “What you don’t know can’t hurt you”, is not true at all.  Give yourself a visual picture of where you want to go, because if you don’t—what you don’t know could cost you more than time and money—it could cost you lost opportunities.
